STATISTICAL UPDATE:
This is going to look skimpy, but quite frankly not much is going to happen as a consequence of todays' results. Almost everybody in the top 100 or so brackets picked today's match correctly. Now our current lonely leader did loose, and so that means in the current standings you will move up 1 point closer to the leaders, however our current leader wasn't even close to the lead in regards to MAX points anyway, so most of you were always going to pass him regardless. What's more important is that only 1 of the top 11 brackets in MAX points lost today, and only 2 of the top 36. So there's not a lot that's really going change in the overall standings.
BIG PICTURE:
MAX Point outlook from yesterday. Coming into the day yesterday we had 124 Brackets within 5 MAX points of the leaders. 27 of them lost yesterdays match, and 26 of those fell off the leaderboard. We're now down to 97 Brackets that currently sit within 5 of the lead, but as we pointed out yesterday, only 1 of the top 11 Lost, which means none of us got much closer to the lead. Today's results will give us the same outcome, but as you'll see the number of those close to the lead, did fall considerably with yesterday's result.
Those who correctly picked yesterdays match and remain at,,, 184 Points - passed 26 brackets yesterday 185 Points - passed 13 brackets 186 Points - Passed 6 187 Points - Passed just 3 Brackets, and,,, 188 Points - Passed just 1 Bracket to remain within 1 of the lead.
Today there are,,,, 4 - Brackets who retain a share of the lead with 189 MAX Points still available. 7 - Brackets with 188 available points 6 - with 187 points still possible 16 - that still could earn 186 28 - at 185 possible points, and,,, 35 - more brackets that remain within 5 Points at 184 MAX.
Once again today's results are going to trim only about 5 total brackets from this top group, as those at the top with 188 or 189 points have remained relatively unshaken in the 3rd Round so far. And since almost none of those come from the first or second group, your odds haven't improved much in the past 2 days. It looks to remain rather steady over the next few matches as well, but keep checking in. You never know when there will be a major upset.
