That's right, ladies and gentlemen- registration for the Season 6 Lost Fantasy League is now officially OPEN! Season 6 will bring Lost to a close, so this is your last opportunity to take part in the LFL.
If you haven't signed up for the LFL in the past, it's really quite simple. All you need to do is fill out the registration form linked at the bottom of this post. You will need to include a valid email address and a unique team name. You will be able to select what Lost website you frequent most often and you must select one character from each of our seven character groups to build your team.
NOTE: EMAIL ADDRESSES WILL NOT BE SOLD, DISTRIBUTED OR OTHERWISE RELEASED TO ANY THIRD PARTY ADVERTISERS. THE SOLE PURPOSE OF INCLUDING AN EMAIL ADDRESS IS SO WE HAVE A MEANS OF CONTACTING YOU IF YOU WIN ONE OF OUR FABULOUS PRIZES.
Once you have selected your Fantasy Roster, written down who is on your team, and submitted the registration form, relax! All you have to do is enjoy watching Lost while DarkUFO and I do all the legwork. Once you have submitted your team, you WILL NOT be able to make any changes. Your team remains the same all season long and the characters on your team will earn you points depending on what they do during each episode.
We have made some changes from the Season 5 LFL, including the elimination of the absentee deduction! Be sure to check out each section below before you fill out the registration form.
We cut back on the number of characters quite a bit this year. A total of 22 characters from the Season 5 LFL were cut and 8 exciting new prospects have been introduced! This year's new characters include:
Stuart Radzinsky- The bespectacled control freak who designed the Swan station and helped cause the incident.
Ana Lucia Cortez- The former cop and deceased Tailie who has appeared to Hurley in a vision.
Charlie Hume- The son of Desmond and Penny Hume and grandson of Charles Widmore.
Ilana- So new she doesn't even have a last name yet! She knows what lies in the shadow of the statue.
Naomi Dorrit- Mancunian and deceased freighter posse member has appeared several times since her death.
Bram- Also new enough to not have a last name yet, Bram is on team Shadow-of-the-Statue.
The Man in Black- He's been masquerading as Locke for half a season and has been labeled with several interesting nicknames by the fans.
Carole Littleton- Claire's mother and Aaron's grandmother, she's currently got the tyke in her custody while Kate searches for Claire.
We've also done some tinkering with the point categories! We have eliminated two point categories while adding two brand new ones. You'll now get points if members of your team visit the Temple or say the title of an episode and you will no longer lose points if your characters are absent! We've increased the point value of 8 different point categories, while reducing the value of two slightly.
Finally, we're going to add a little excitement to this year's LFL. Before registration closes and before any spoilers come out, I will be randomly selecting three episodes from Season 6. During these three episodes, all point values will be doubled! The Season 6 premier and finale will be out of the running for these double-point days.
As you can see, we've chopped back the number of character groups from 8 to 7. Most of the characters who were cut were the ones who haven't showed up in either Season 4 or 5. These character groupings are based on a combination of their performance in the Season 5 LFL and our best guesses as to the potential level of involvement in Season 6. There's always a few surprise "over-performers" each year and you no longer lose points is a member of your team is absent, so don't be afraid to take a few risks!
There weren't too many changes with our point categories. We eliminated the absentee deduction altogether and changed a few of the point values as well. Be sure to look over these categories, as they may help you pick your team. The rules will all remain the same as they were in Season 5 (if it ain't broke, don't fix it!) but a new rule book will be released in the coming weeks. (Click on the chart to see it larger)
Just like every year, the top three contestants at the end of the season will win some fabulous prizes!

woohoo I signed up too. my first LFL. I've been following the league before and thought it was fun. I chose characters that I like, not necessarily the characters that will score a lot of points but I wanna see how it turns out in season 6. can't wait!
Quick question and if I missed this than I apologize. With MIB parading around as Locke, do these appearances count as MIB or Locke? I guess that question would be directed towards any other characters that may be impersonated/possessed by other characters next season as well. This is my first time, thanks for your help.

Characters only earn points for things they themselves do, not if someone manifests their form. Locke doesn't earn points for things the MIB does while in his form. MIB does earn points for that stuff though. Hope that helps!
I also want to know what mcmaistro is asking. Can you just let us know how this whole impostor thing will play out on the points system? Because if someone were to take over Locke's body, then that wouldn't count as Locke......or would it? I'm Lost...
I took part in season four, but missed out in season five -- so I'm looking forward to playing again in season six! Even though, as people have said, there is so much up in the air regarding the characters.
I have a question for you guys. A lot of people are theorizing that Man in Black/FLocke/Man #2/Esau is actually the smoke monster. Personally, I don't believe that is the case. But in case I'm wrong, how will scoring be done if they do end up being one and the same?
There is no deadline. The forms will be closed once we start getting major spoilers in for next year. So we could shut the forms down tomorrow or in a couple of months.

If the Man in Black turns out to be the Smoke Monster, then both MIB and Smokey will have their scores adjusted so that they have identical scores for the entire season. Hopefully that makes sense. :-)

Do you guys track IP addresses, I hope? It just occurred to me that someone could create literally dozens of phony e-mail accounts, and enter a ton various teams, in an attempt to win this thing. Is there some kind of safeguard against this, I'm hoping?

Just a confirmation... the same thing that applies to Man in Black applies to Jacob as well if he takes someone else's form, right ? For example, let's say Charlie Pace comes back, does a bunch of stuff, and then six episodes later, we discover that he was really Jacob... all those points would then be switched from Charlie to Jacob, right ?
Thanks for removing the absentee deduction. I think that doubling the points in three episodes is a terrible idea though. The characters whose episodes those are will get a lot more points than they deserve for the season.
A question: Saying the title of an episode means any episode, right? Not just that week's? So if anyone happens to say "adrift" they get five points. In that case, would "pilot" count? That wasn't really a title, it was just an untitled pilot episode.
Oh my - these groups this season are killers! I've printed off the groups and the points and will take my already blooming headache and pick in a few days. Yikes. This will be hard. Hope everyone has fun with this!!! Gonna be an awesome season. Guess we'll be needing tissue boxes by our TV's for the season.

If it is revealed that the MIB is Smokey both characters will continue to earn points even though they are the same person/thing. We're not going to eliminate one's points or the others if this happens to be the case. So if you have both Smokey and MIB on your team you will still get points for each. Smokey and MIB would just have matching scores if this turns out to be the case.

I signed up a good week ago if I remember right. I got the message that it was submitted at the end, but never got an email confirming it. There is no junk folder in use on my email, so hope it did work.
I have created 2 groups with the same email and in the same computer. Are they going to be banned? Should I create them again but with different emails?
Afraid not, you can only have one entry per person. Duplicate entries will be automatically deleted unless you let me know which one you want to keep. The first one will be kept by default and the others removed.
My dad signed up not too long ago w/ a team name of "Island Hopping", but just after he submitted we came up w/ a much catchier name for my team, especially since Kate is the first character on his list:

Is there anyway he could get his LFL team name changed to "Flight Risk"? I know it's probably a lot to ask considering how much prep you're doing, and how many signups you've had thus far, but I had to ask for him.
My bro signed up as "It's Hurley Time!" and I just saw in a commercial for ABC that Jimmy Kimmel suggested that as a catchphrase to Jorge :D

Dark, since G-Man is I'm sure swamped w/ preparing for the LFL (and therefore hasn't responded to either me or my dad), is there any way you could switch the name of his team?
I don't understand the "League Site" option. It lists several websites I enjoy, and I wouldn't want whatever points I may or may not get go to only one of those and not others. I also don't get what one site would get over others if I pick one over the... what is all that about anyway? I can't fill this thing out until I understand that part of it better and I don't want to miss the deadline. Who might be able to illuminate the situation?
i share and internet connection with three other avid lost fans (one router/IP though)....we tried to agree on a team for a 'team effort' but that DID NOT WORK AT ALL :)
so basically me and my sis have signed up, but my bro is shit and is trying to hold one over us by choosing last which won't make a shit of a difference anyway! haha
i'm going to say he has to do it from an internet cafe cuz your only allowed two per IP address haha ...deserves it for his wankery :D shhhh
