I was kinda expecting the mobisodes to be included in the release. Especially as it's called the expanded experience.
Can we say that the filming of all the episodes for season 4 is over considering this dvd news? I got that idea from here...
I think what needs to be done, from a marketing/sales point of view, is to also release the Blu-Ray version of Season1 around August, just before the new TV season. This will keep the viewers occupied until February when Lost returns.
And then, next year, in August again, they should release the Blu-Ray version of Season 2.
This way, they have new releases every 3 months pretty much, keeping the flame alive.
That drives me crazy! Why is the price so high when there's half as many episodes as normal????? Why will it take until December when there's half as much to edit/comment on???? AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGG!
Yeah, that's way too high a price.
I know they're basing it on the other seasons, but this shortened season will require less discs and should therefore cost much less to produce. It's ridiculous, for sure.
And I'm not fond of the December release date. We have a long wait between seasons and ABC doesn't do summer reruns anymore. The DVD dept would be wiser to release it sooner and cheaper so they don't lose money to iTunes.
I agree about the prices btw. Especially because this season has fewer episodes, and yet the price is even higher.
Hey All,
As far as cost goes, I am sure there will be several discounted deals available and we will post them if we find them.
Also, I am sure there will various bonus features for various markets.

Ditto on the price :/
But I just have to have this so I've instantly come to terms with it :)
I feel like when that day arrives, when I have all 6 together...something magical will happen and I'll be privy to the mysteries of the universe ;)
The price in stores will be much lower than that. I bought the season 3 blu-ray at Best Buy for $60 on release day.
Does anyone know if they ever plan to release lost on blu-ray for europe?
What the heck? 70$ cdn for 9 less hours and worse (much worse) bonus features than season 1 and season 3's dvds?
Ugh.
Really, though, those bonuses aren't very interesting. The "Lost in 24 hours" was very interesting... and nothing here seems very interesting. They've already spent a lot of time telling us how they transform hawaii into other locales on other dvd bonus sections.
The gun tracking section sounds like the most boring thing ever.
Freighter folk seems kind of interesting, but the freighter characters are such small characters due to the shortened seasons (aside from faraday) and they don't really matter much.
Everything else looks awesome, though. Just can't believe the price. That's ridiculous and totally unreasonable, nor justifiable. This season cost 33% less, so no reason for this bs.
Those are just the suggested retail prices. Best Buy and other retailers will sell them much cheaper.
It should definitely not be called the complete fourth season, thats a misleading name..
the same suggested price as a full season, thats bullshit. Best Buy will probably have it for $39.99, with extra bonuses if you buy other seaons, but still this should be no more then $29!
Remember back when (I think it was) season 1 was released in September? Come on...I don't want to wait twice as long for half as much :o(
OK...my math is bad, but you know what I mean.
Summary says 2009...should be 2008
Thats BS in regards to the prices. I hope thats just a placeholder price . . . we get almost half the amount of content as last season and its the same price? I don't think so ABC. Don't try any of those shenanigans, you'll just lead people to pirate.
The Dec. release date has nothing to do with how long it takes them to convert the episodes on DVD, it has to do with promotion for season 5. Basic rules of marketing...I hate it too.
Hi there Benjamin Linus
The next time you time travel from the future to 2008 could you please bring back with you DVD box-sets of LOST seasons 4, 5 and 6. Blu-ray or old-school 2005 DVD format is ok.
Hopefully this will not "change the rules"!
Many thanks
Richard
Good news for American LOST fans... but here in Italy I'm still waiting for Season 3 Blu-Ray which hasn't been announced yet :(
The MSRP is almost never a reflection of the typical price you see in stores. I agree that we'll see the set for $39.99 in most places. It is upsetting that they're charging the same price for the shorter season-- even more so since the set won't include the mobisodes. But I can't say it's entirely unexpected.
Hmmm... rather expensive for only 14 episodes...
Starring Dominic Monaghan? Since when?
The artwork is awful. All the oceanic 6 are highlighted. I hope they change it.
the artwork is just season 2 but with most people in a different place. Why bother? I wanted to see better new interesting artwotk, maybe follow on from season 3 artwork, like a puzzle.
Season 1 - far away shadows
Season 2 - Up close
Season 3 - Cut into pieces
How about Season 4 - running from the smoke monster with otherville in the background on fire maybe..
This artwork is stupid! Is it a late April fools joke?
I wish it would be solid blue with a bar featuring all the characters... similar to the last 3 seasons (grey, orange, and green). Also, this box looks pretty thick. The box probably will not have that many DVDs in it.
Anyone heard anything about seasons 1 and 2 being released on Blu-Ray? I'll be really bummed if they never do....
The price will be much cheaper. I bough season 2 a couple months after it came out and it only cost me 25 dollars. If you buy it like new on Amazon that it will be cheaper and play well. I speak from experience.
The artwork was just the official S4 teaser pic.
Also, I can't wait to pay the same price for half as many episodes. Yay!
do i see buildings reflected in the backround of the water?
Whats the symbol on the right side? You know how Season 1 was Jack, Season 2 was the island, and Season 3 was the Hydra logo???
This isn't the actual boxart. This is jut a stand-in for when they design the real boxart.
This boxart sucks balls, and everyone knows it.
And they better not use these horribly photoshopped characters. Ugh.
Am i the only one that is fine with the boxart? It is exactly as i expected it would be with the buildings in the water and the helicopter light coming from the left hand side with the O6 in the light.
Made sense to me... lol.
I like the boxart, personally.
Better than 2 and 3.
whats worse is that it's 20 dollars more in Canada. last time I checked the american and canadian dollar were the same. In fact i think the canadian dollar is stronger right now so why are we getting the shaft and having to pay more? I guess they don't value their canadian veiwers at all.
About the artwork, I do like that it's blue, since this season was touted as a return to the quality of season 1, which had a sliver-blueish case. I also like that they have the buildings in the water. But is this the final artwork, or placeholder?
It sucks that there's no mobisodes, maybe they're going to release them with season 6, or with a box set? They have to have the mobisodes on dvd, since they're canon, right? I mean that would be stupid if they didn't do that.
Also I better be able to buy this for $29.99 at Best Buy. It's only 14 episodes.
hey i do dig the box art - same as the other 3 - and amazon will sell this for like 30$ im sure - everyone chill out!!
60$ for 14 hours. Basically 4$ an episode, 4 times what they charge with itunes. I knew we were gonna be ripped off when they announced three seasons of 16 eps.
Not real.
This looks like it will be the inside artwork (if you take off the "dust jacket"; similar to the first three seasons).
For example, if you take off the solid green dust jacket for season 3, you see the Barracks underneath. I suspect that if you take off the solid navy jacket from this one, you see the buildings.
so which is it...Dec 2008 or Dec 2009?
the buildings in the water is a little fireshadowing that was a part of the poster. They had buildings (upside down) in the water. These buildings are not exclusive to the dvd case, and they are not underneath the dust jacket. It's a part of the photo.
I hope they make this dvd more traditional and similar to Lost's other dvds, with the see-through strip in the middle.
austin849, I think there is no symbol on the side but the oceanic six. Who was the genius?
I do not buy dvd´s anymore. I will wait till 2010 when the whole show ends and pray for the release of a super cool box(hopefully a Dharma box) with the six seasons for the cost of three. (if someone doesn´t know what I´m talking, see the prices on each season of six feet under and then the box with all the show)
P.S. Does someone wants season 1 and 2 in spanish? LOL
Supposedly the "Missing Pieces" will not be included on DVD because they were Verizon exclusives.
what about the freighter folk on the cover?
why no mobisodes?
why so expensive?
why so late?
I like how the DVD doesnt even match the other boxsets in look
Any idea when will the Blu Ray rips of S4 episodes hit the torrent sites?
