Any chance of the Season Finale being 2 hours? I'm guessing this is probably out because of the strike, but it will kind of suck not having the usual 2 Hour Seeason Finale. For a show like LOST, it's such an event, I wish it would still happen that way.
The one good thing about the 3 extra hours that they need to make up is, the Season 5 and 6 Finales will probably be 2 Hours long, as well as another episode, possibly one of the Season Premieres.
Have you got a source for this?
Just wondering...
TJ: No idea about a 2 hr finale. I certainly hope so.
Lostobsessive: The source is at the bottom of the post.
Oh, okay, I just saw a link to abc.com; I guess the source is there then?
My mistake. Sorry. :)
Thanks Dark, I shot you an email asking if you knew any info on this, so no need to respond there. Keep up the great work brotha
hmmm....
ok cool - I can live with a month off. Last season the break nearly killed me. I'm sure we'll have enough twists and new info to "chew on" by the time that month comes around anyway.
Thanks Dark.
My ONE MIllion dollar question :
Is the season finale 2 hours long?
I can't imagine having a 1 hour finale, that would suck.
Thanks
I thought they said episode 7 was a more natural fit for the mid season break?
I thought they said episode 7 was a more natural fit for the mid season break?
They did and it is but it's ABC's decision not Damon and Carlton's unfortunately.
I live in Belgium and download the episodes a couple hours after airing.
The shitty thing is: I'm going on a holiday to the States, but my flight is on may 16. There isn't enough time to download the epi before I leave.
Are there reruns of the show in America during the week or so? It would be cool to see the season finale in the USA, but I first need to see Epi 12 ofcourse.
Somebody info?
Well, it's good that we only have to wait a month for Lost to come back. I don't like the 10:00 time slot, still. I think they should move Grey's to 10:00. But anyway, I hope the finale is two hours. I think it would be if they are going to lose three episodes because of the strike.
@ white lines, while you're in America you could (if you have internet acces there) go to abc.com to see epi 12 online.
@jonathan
Super! I didn't think of that.
I'm visiting LA and Phoenix before the final, so I will find internet-access or die trying!!
Any word on what will air in the time slot during the break? Reruns?
I don't mind reruns as much as most people do. It's the way it used to be.
Ah well, at least it means we get one extra episode before the excruciating break.
I'm going to be dying just waiting a month for the new episodes, especially after they said episode 7 seemed to be a more natural break.
Oh well. New Ugly Betty and new Lost on the same night! Guess I'll just get in the shower while Grey's Anatomy is on.
I thought I heard somewhere that they were going to extend the television season into June this year. If so they could fit more episodes, 3 more if you get my drift What happened to that proposition?

No, as per Damon and Carlton it's 48 HOURS of programming for s4,s5,and s6
That would be kinda neat to see the 3 missing episodes simply tacked on finales and/or premieres in future seasons though.
Episode 8 seems kinda cool for reasons I'm not allowed to say. There's one particular storyline that doesn't look like it'll be continued until then and I'm much happier if it's continued in that episode to not have to wait another month :)
Lostobsessive: The source is at the bottom of the post.
Dark, I see that you link to ABC.com as the source, but I can't find anywhere on their site where they mention this schedule. I would like to see where they announced this.
It doesn't matter if the finale is 1 hour or 2 hours, if it were 8 episodes or 13, if they charge us $50 for the season 4 dvd, or if they discount it...
Is it fair that the loyal viewers got shafter both by abc and the writers because of the strike (they get more money... we get less episodes)...? no. but,
We'll still watch... because we want the answers. It seems like the show is only about the answers now, and how long we have to wait for them.
The March 20th date is horrible. This may not mean much in the U.K., but that's the opening day of the NCAA basketball tournament, something I commit to watch with my friends far in advance.
ABC isn't showing much vision in regards to their post-strike scheduling of Lost when you combine this with the elimination of vital episodes.
Was Season 1 Finale two hours? I can't remember. I know S2 and S3 were. If so, it would be a shame for the writers to break with tradition and only give us an hour for S4.
@boz
So what your saying is that ABC is lacking vision for scheduling an episode of Lost on a day when you have a previous commitment with friends and that they ought delay showing that episode to the entire world so you don't have to choose between your freinds and Lost...
I'm sure there are a number of hugely popular sporting events happening around the world that night, but I know I'd be pissed if they canned an episode of Lost because there was an important test match between Britain and the West Indies on the international cricket circuit.
C'mon dude - watch the game with your boys, tape the show and watch it when bball coverage is done for the day.
@GEORGEW - I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly, but I thought the Pilot Episode and the Season Finale during the 1st Season were both 2 Hours long. Again, I may be wrong here, but that's the way I remembered it.
As for the NCAA Tourney, I'm not sure what statistics have shown in the past, but I would think it may hurt the ratings of the new shows. Again, I don't know for sure, but those first four days of the NCAA Tourney are very big in the US both for fans and gamblers across the country. But I here ya, just tape it and watch it later.
It will be recorded, but I hate to delay watching Lost for a moment.
I may well do it, but it's less than ideal and I guarantee plenty of people will not thus hurting the cause.
I thought the initial scheduling was genius, but now I find the cobra/economist who must be in charge of abc is up to his old tricks trying to bring down the island.
GeorgeW
The season 1 finale was in a way 3 hours long! Part 1 was shown one week and parts 2 and 3 were shown a week later. So in a way it was a 2 hour finale, but in a better way it was a 3 hour episode.
I am quite surprised that ABC are cutting down the number of episodes though. It's a shame that after such a long wait for Lost to return, we're only getting 13 episodes.
@ tj23, boz & roe
Thanks for the info on the finales - (I had forgotten that about Exodus) - hopefully they continue the 2 hour trend.
re:March Madness
I hear what you guys are saying about the effect that it might have on the ratings and that it may be a poor decision by ABC from a business perspective. However, those are the decisions we've all (or at least I have) been critical of in the past because they often result in delays that interfere with the pacing of the story...and to be fair I am a selfish and impatient motherf***er - I can barely sit through the commercials now and want to throw a brick at the TV everytime they broadcast one of the pop-up-video episodes...
It does look like the finale will be just 1 hour but I will try to confirm
