good for lost, but overall, the emmy picks were terrible.... boston legal over the wire? are they serious?
if anyone cares, the other dramas it's up against are: boston legal, damages, dexter, house, and mad men
It's brilliant that Lost have finally been nominated for Outstanding Drama Series... but why no nom for Writing or Directing?
Can we have a link to the ful nominations please?
Lost heave a realy bigg chances to win the Emmy this year. Or Lost or Mad Men!
I forgot to say Michel Emerson will totaly win in supporting actor in drama series!
complete list:

Yay for Michael Emerson! Yay for Lost finally making it back into the Drama Series category.
Although, I've got to say. Last year, Lost's episode submission for that category "Through the Looking Glass" didn't manage it a nomination...but the episode was nominated in the writing and directing category.
This year, Lost's episode submission for the Drama Series category "The Constant" managed to get Lost a nomination...but the episode wasn't nominated in the writing and directing category.
I find this amusing.
Shocker. Yet, again, Matthew Fox, robbed. And Terry O'Quinn? Granted, he's won it before but he was fantastic yet again this year. Matthew Fox NEEDS a nomination, and soon. And Henry Ian Cusick as well.
Glad to see Emerson up there and glad to see the series back up in the drama series category. Crossing my figures!!
I really though yun yin kim would get a nomination after breaking our hearts at Kin's grave. Too bad :-( i would have taken out at least 2 names from the supporting actress list for her.
They gave Terry O'Quinn nothing to work with this year so understand his snob but I'm baffled Henry ian Cusik gets his episode nominated but he is snobbed as an actor, and Penny is snubbed for her guest apperaence. Go figure
Well, there are some snubs, but overall I'm happy. There are more nominations this year than last year.
And I believe Lost will win more than last year too. (Sopranos practically owned the ceremony last year)
I'm looking forward to the 2010 Emmy's. This time, Lost will own the whole ceremony.
(By the way, I was happy to see the Simpsons episode "Eternal Moonshine for a Simpson Mind" got nominated. That was like, "The Constant" for the Simpsons. Best episode since the glory days.)
I'm really glad Michael Giacchiano got nominated for the music. I think he does an incredible job for LOST, weaving each character's themes in and out of the scores he writes. It was great hearing Ben's theme when he was moving the Frozen Donkey Wheel; what a contrast to when we first heard it, during The Purge.
YES!!! It's great to see Lost back in the Best Drama picture. I was pissed that it didn't make it back last year but I guess last season was a lot less consistant than last season. Emerson was expected and it's a huge shame that it didn't get nods for directing and writing. Bender and Darlton were both great this season.
As for other non LOST nominations I'm happy about. House and Dexter both had great seasons and they deserve their noms. It's great to finally see Grey's get snubbed, that show is TERRIBLE. No 24 this year which means no Kiefer Sutherland for Best Actor which leaves room for the spectacular Michael C. Hall to get a nod. Hugh Laurie is a given because no one can make the transition of being funny to serious like he can (besides Emerson :P). Entourage and 30 Rock are both hilarious comedies and they deserve every nomination they get (although it may finally be time for Piven to lose supporting actor). How I Met Your Mother is hilarious and should have been given a Best Comedy nom for its great season. NPH is fantastic and maybe with Piven stepping aside this could leave it open for him to win. Poehler is hitting gold everytime she goes on stage on SNL so it's great to see her get a nod. It's shocking as well because I can't even remember the last time a star of SNL got an emmy nom.
I think the rest are just hit and miss.
Looking past them snubbing Yunjin and Ian's from the top ten, Lost pretty much got all the noms I expected them to get. Even though I don't watch Madmen, I can live with a new critically acclaimed show winning best drama while Emerson wins best supporting.
Would've been nice to see Naveen Andrews squeak onto the nominees list, but I can't complain too much. That's a particularly strong list of dramatic supporting actor nominees --- say what you will about Shatner, but he owns that role.
Wish list of winners....Laurie or Hall, Carell or Baldwin, Fey, Hunter, Chenoweth, Oh, NPH or Rainn Wilson, 30 Rock and of course Emerson and LOST!
"Although, I've got to say. Last year, Lost's episode submission for that category "Through the Looking Glass" didn't manage it a nomination...but the episode was nominated in the writing and directing category."
Actually, the episode submitted for the Best Drama Series category last year was "The Man From Tallahassee", which explains it's lack of nomination...wasn't a very friendly episode to people who have never seen the show before.
Now I just have to watch the episodes from the other nominees and see if any of them match the brilliance that is The Constant!!! LOST FTW!!!!!
and i know she won't win, but Mary-Louise Parker deserves the Emmy hands down!!!
So Glad Michael Emerson is up for an emmy again. He deserves it for phenomenal acting -- hands-down!
I'm happy for Emerson, he truly deserves it but how come Lost didn't get a single nomination for
'Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series'?
And I could see that Matthew was robbed, once again.
Ok the Constant has such a brilliant concept in its writing and it doesn't get nominated. wtf... Darlton so deserve an emmy for their writing, its getting ridiculous. No other writing in television and even many movies comes close to the stuff they come up with.
So, Naveen doesn't make the final cut but Michael does...it's OK as Michael sure better win this won as I would hate to hear "the winner is William Shatner".
Best Drama Series: Lost, Dexter & House; Ruh Roh...a tough bunch there as I watch all 3 of these shows i've got nothing bad to say about any of them.
The Constant: Bad enough HIC doesn't get any consideration, but only one production nomination...disppointing.
I would have liked to have seen Kevin Durand given a nom for Best Supporting Guest Actor in a Drama Series...disappointing this is.
Overall, the nominations give me a reason to watch the emmys this year as we already knew that Lost had no nominations in the Best Actor, Best Actress or Best Supporting Actress category going into the final picks...this info is not new.
Thanks for the post :)
OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES! Finally!!!
I am much more surprised to see both Yunjin Kim (Sun) and Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond) left out of the Emmy nominations than I am to see Matthew Fox (Jack) missing. I don't find his acting nearly as layered as either of those two of his fellow cast members, who both had a fantastic season, or better than any of the five actors who did get Best Actor nods. I am also surprised and disappointed to see The Tutors, Mary McDonnell and BSG over looked.
and also...congrats to Michael Giacchino for his amazing score yet again. I love that man.
Also happy about the (moderate) love for Pushing Daisies: Jim Dooley (score), Lee Pace (lead actor), Kristin Chenoweth (supporting actress), and all the others. Boo: no Outstanding Comedy series for Pushing Daisies, no supporting actor nod for Chi McBride.
oscuridad483,
You are mistaken. Lost's episode submission last year was "Through the Looking Glass". It was reported at one point as "The Man From Tallahassee", but it was, in fact, "Through the Looking Glass".
can't believe they got shafted on writing and directing this year....oh well, i think it's a fav for best series.
Go Michael Emereson! You deserve it
Henk Van Eeghen, Editor (for lost)
isn't that the same last name as some octagon recruitment 'email source code tid bit' that someone found a while ago?
maybe i'm going nuts :)

As much as I hate Jack, Matthew Fox is quite awesome. And I'm genuinely shocked no one (again) was nominated for guest actor. So much guest actors in lost it's unreal... and nearly all of them amazing.
Henry was robbed for Constant but I'm glad his episode is vying for the ultimate prize.
Michael Emerson deserves his nomination yet again. He is undoubtedly the best actor on television hands down. Best character too.
LOST cant be nominated for EVERYTHING guys... lolz... altho i wish it was.. i with it was THE LOST EMMY'S and every category that LOST or LOST actors or LOST writers can be nominated in... they would be.. and would win.. but it's not that easy... lolz...
im REALLY pleased with this years nominations for the MOST part.. im really bummed that Damon and Carlton didnt get a nom for The Constant... or Jack Bender for direction... but the show being nominated for Best Drama for the first time since Season 1 is AMAZING and i LOVE it.. that's an Emmy Damon and Carlton would get to keep if the show won anyways...
so, overall.. im happy with the noms.. i didnt get everything i wanted, but that's ok... the Best Drama nom is the best ever!!!! :)
Matthew Fox doesn't deserve a nomination at all.
I'm glad to see Michael Emerson got nominated, he is great! Although I would also like to see in that list Matthew Fox and Henry Ian Cusick.
This time I'm agree with the nominations, specially cause MF is not on the list I think that Michael C. Hall (Dexter) or Hugh Laurie (House) as lead actor or Michael Emerson as supporting actor are in a superior level of acting than him. IMO. And LOST is good too but not as good as in 1 to 3 seasons.
I'm glad that others have stood up and spoken their minds: that Matthew Fox did not deserve an emmy nomination for Best Actor, period the end. This is why he didn't even make the list of semifinalists. With such a great group of fine actors, what makes him think he's above the others as Best Actor anyway? Last time I checked, the credits are listed in alphabetical order; never saw anything that said: Lost, starring Matthew Fox with a list of the others being subordinates to him.
Lets hear it for Michael Emerson, personally I think i'll get a little tear in my eye when they call his name. He's such a humble man; this is much deserved.
@Rowan, you might be going nuts but your info is correct :)
Hard to believe Henry Ian Cusick didn't make it on here for "The Constant." That was the best TV I watched all year.
With such a great group of fine actors, what makes him think he's above the others as Best Actor anyway?
I must have missed the interview where he claimed to be superior to all his co-stars. The credits may be listed in alphabetical order, but surely you realise Matthew Fox is the de facto lead?
You may not think he deserves recognition, but that doesn't change the fact that Fox is regularly praised by commentators and critics and it is a widespread view that he does a mighty fine job on Lost. Funnily enough, Fox is probably critisized most by Lost fans. Irrational hatred overcoming sound judgement?
Radzinsky said... With such a great group of fine actors, what makes him think he's above the others as Best Actor anyway? I must have missed the interview where he claimed to be superior to all his co-stars.
============
Um, it's not because he's 'better' or because he thinks he's 'better' or because anyone thinks he's better.
The lead actor/actress is the person who garners the most screen time. Those two people that were submitted for most screen time is Matthew Fox for males and Evangeline Lilly for females.
@jake3988
The actors/actresses submit their names and choose the episodes for which they think they are entitled to an Emmy.
Matthew and Evangeline submitted their names for Best Actor/Actress for (uggh sorry forget which episode, although I do know they both submitted for the same episode and it was a Jack centric episode).
Michael Emerson, when asked why he didn't submit for a Best Actor as opposed to Best Supporting, responded "I didn't want to step on any ones toes".
They have the right to submit for what they want.
So again I ask: On this show of actors and actresses where no one is credited as being any higher than another, what makes Matthew thinks he is of Best Actor material? I see your answer is "because he has more screen time". However as we found out in Dark's latest quiz, the actor who in fact to date who has had the most screen time is actually Dominick.
I submit this question: Are these not a cast of "supporting actors and actresses" for without each other there would be no Lost; together is what makes them, any one of them can be removed and the show will go on, we have seen this time and time again. The Academy may have more respect for Matthew if he submitted his name as a "Best Supporting Actor". If Matthew Fox was such an enormously well liked actor, his movies would not have been box office bombs. People would have run to see him no matter the role; don't think this isn't taken into consideration.
This is what I think: Emmy 2008
