Just heard from the ABC Upfront presentation that as we suspected Lost will return in Jan. 2009 and will have 17 episodes.

This show should be going into it's last year. They milked it at our expense by splitting up 48 episodes.
we all knew it would be an 8 month break, they announced that last year.
the only good news is that we have 17 episodes (most likely)!!

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but are they going to commit to Thursday nights in 2009? I'm sure they will wait and see how the other ABC shows are working before they decide.

I hope there's another set of mobisodes...
The mobisodes will be Randy Nations filming the oceanic six's exploits after they return to the mainland.
They will be filmed in a similair fashion to Cloverfield, and will have Billy Ray Gallions voiceover, when he starts to realise the strange coincidences that his ex-boss/friend/employee, Hugo Reyes, and his new employee, John Locke, happened to be on the same plane...
Randy becomes suspicious when Higo mentions John Locke, although the officail story states the two never met....
I know 8 months ain't nothing but right now feels like a lot of time to me. >_<
Well, I'll re-watch all seasons again, drink all the Dharma beer I have left and have fun here at DarkUFO... You're our constant, Dark! :)
Seriously people- we got through the last hiatus just fine! DarkUFO will have all sorts of goodies to distract us until January.
And besides the time off will help us rediscover that we do actually have lives outside of Lost! :-)
Hey, Dark, I'm confused on the episode order. So, for this season, we got 13 episodes, but 14 hours, cause of the 2 hour finale. By next season having 17 episodes, do they mean 16 episodes with episode 16 being 2 hours (so 17 hours overall) or do they mean 17 episodes, with episode 17 being 2 hours (18 hours oveall)? Do you know which it will be?
someone actually thinks they should have just done two seasons instead of splitting it into three?
i'd much rather have three years of 16 episodes than just one more to go.

D&C said they have a cool idea for the hiatus, so I think we'll be just fine. That is, if the ARG or whatever it is doesn't begin in January, as Find 815 did.

XD LOL... that's so true! Actually, some of my friends are so tired I speak all the time about it, haha. I spend a lot of time on this website while I'm at home, even my dog will be happy for those 8 months...

I already miss Lost the rest of the week after it just aired...but 1 week is bearable, 8 months is not xD
This season I got my best friend hooked on Lost. He watched my dvd sets + the new episodes in a row and he doesn't know what it's like to wait for a new episode after a cliffhanger. I'm curious how long he can take it ^^
It is awesome that we will get those two missing episodes because of the strike back.
I just hope we still get a 2 hour finale last year a 1 hour finale just wouldn't be the same. The 2 hour event is the best day of the year. And dark u need to have another episode cup during hiatus.... i also hope they have more mobisodes those were awesome!
i can't imagine how sad i'm going to be when the series is over... 8 months of waiting on the next season is torture, but not having ANY lost to look forward to in my future is just wrong...

They're NOT "milking it". They had two choices:
1. Do it the way the first two seasons were done: 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off, 2 weeks on, 5 weeks off etc. so they can hit all the sweeps (which is what the scheduling is all about)
2. 16 episodes straight through
Everyone bitched about #1, #2 is the best compromise unless they were going to do, say, 12 episodes Oct-Dec > break > 12 episodes Mar-May. That's not really an improvement, I'd say. Bonus: we get *three* season finales, not two. :-)
I'm ready for a break, but I'll be going nuts around December.

Hmm. I love that they've planned out all of Lost and stuff, but I wonder why they didn't give them 24 episodes per season. It just feels so short. I know there are probably reasons but I wish they'd done the normal season length, it doesn't feel like a real season when there's less than 20 episodes imo. There's hardly time to get into it before it's over.

Lost is like a heroin addiction, Im so very, very tired of it, but I cant stop watching. So many false leads and buildups that go nowhere. I realised that ive been paying attention to lost for the last 3 years? When does it end and could they possibly wrap up a few loose ends, and there are plenty does anyone remember the giant foot with four toes? Sigh well at least i can rest a while until next year when im sure, like every year, ill come back to watching it with new enthusiasm knowing that this time, it will all make sense. I have a feeling that the series finale is just going to be the producers rolling around in a pool of money laughing hysterically and pointig at the screen.

I'm taking mt time traveling bunny and jumping to Feb 09 . I think season 5 will be about trying to get back on the island and season 6 will be about all of them getting rescued
8 Months Not That Bad But Its Still Long So Ive Just Put LOst Season 4 On Discs And I Think I Shall Watch Lost From Season 1 To End Of Season 4 2 or 3 episodes a week and by the end lost season 5 will be out :D
Hate to burst your bubbles, but the truth is there are 2 more seasons! Season five will be Jan 2009, season six will be Jan 2010. Each will be 17 seasons.

ill be fine during the LOST hiatus, my favorite book series by Terry Goodkind, Sword of Truth, is doing a tv series over book 1. Wizards First Rule which is also being used by ABC. It premiers this fall and has 22 episodes, one 1 hour episode a week, which will more than keep me occupied until LOST season 5. Fans probably already know this information but this comment was mainly for non-fans of Goodkinds books.
