I've just heard that Cane has been officially cancelled by CBS. Will this pave the way for a return to the show for Nestor Carbonell? Let's hope so.

unlucky for him but good news for LOST if he returns
i hope he cames back we haven't seen him once yet, one more great actor on lost. i heard cane was good i didn't get to watch it. sad.
Such good news! I wasn't sure how they were going to explain Richard's disappearance, but now maybe he'll be back!
darlton says in EW this week he is available to return so i assume it's a go. YAY!!
I feel sorry for him since he was one of the leads on Cane (which is, of course, a better gig than he had on Lost), but I'm thrilled that he may now be available for Lost. I hope we see him back next season. It would be so great.
Well his dissapearance was explained, he's taking the rest of the Others to the Temple. We may not have seen him this season, but we also haven't seen the rest of the Others.
This is the greatest fucking news ever.

Well, he was only ever a guest actor and not contracted.
Maybe they'll offer him a contract for season 5 so he can't go anywhere :)
If we had 16 episodes this season, they could probably bring him back THIS season... but cutting back by 3 episodes we probably won't see any resolution to the 'Others' storyline until next season.
But who knows... maybe they'll work him in if he wants to come back.
I agree this is brilliant news for Lost fans. And I have a feeling he'll be back this season, possibly as a regular too?

Best news I've heard all day.
Although - "available" doesn't mean he's signed and ready. He's kind of a stud now having done movies and lead roles in TV.
I would be happy if they get him back for 3-4 more episodes. I think Darlton would be able to explain in in that many episodes. Anything more than that is BONUS.
I think we'll see him in a Ben FB this season, but not much more. TPTB will probably get to his story and the temple in season 5.
If I was running LOSt i would pay Nestor to shoot certain scenes: like his back story, and a way to take him out of the show, which do not necessarily need the regular cast involved. That way you have a backup plan in case he isnt available for season 5/6.
He definitely needs some additional screen time to satisfy the mysteries created by his character.
I am sorry Nestor lost his starring role... but great news for us. Hope they pay him well.
That sucks for Cane...I actually liked the show. But I can get over it because I hope he comes back to Lost now.

Great news!! I can see Richard Alpert appearing in the last 5 episodes, with Richard leading the Others to this mysterious temple. I wonder where exactly is this temple & whether Danielle Rousseau has ever stumbled upon it?
Well I would day they'd offer him season regular status, they did last year but he turned it down for a lead role in Cane. They'd be stupid not to offer him a series regular status.
I can see him appearing in the finale or maybe having a larger role in the Season 5 premier. I wouldn't hold your breath too much for an appearance this season. If they really had the season planned out like they said they did, they probably planned on avoiding the temple until Season 5. And since they're smushing the last 8 episodes into 5, I REALLY doubt they'd try to go back and write in Alpert action. That might be a bit too much even for Damon & Carlton to pull off.

This has been mentioned a couple times in comments this week, including one by me. It was in TV Guide already, and is mentioned in Jeff Jensen's interview. Since the last 5 aren't completely written, and there may be a Ben FB again, Richard may be written into it this season. Darlton said they will be dealing with the Purge, etc. That would involve Richard I'd think. How great would that be!!!! Never watched Cain anyway, but sorry he lost his show.
Maybe it will help Lost out for a while anyway.

Wasn't Cane produced by the same studio as LOST? I believe Damon and Carlton said that they hoped to work out a deal where they could use Nestor in some episodes because of this.
Richard was definitely one of the more intriguing characters. I am glad that we are not cheated out of learning more about him.

Another who would kill to see a R.A flashback OR a R.A flashforward,or even better,both.
I intentionally did not watch Cane because the show-runner said that she would not allow Nestor to film scenes for Lost. I am glad it got canned. I usually check out most pilots, but I specifically avoided Cane.

I believe TPTB mentioned the writer's strike gave them an opportunity to respond to feedback from these episodes. Here is feedback: Get Nestor signed on as a full time cast member! Not only does Lost have a huge fan base, but his character has a tremendous following (Anyone who doesn't have a Richard FB on their top 3 list is kidding themselves!) Make whatever deal you have to, but get Nestor back!!!
