    DarkUFO Character Cup: Final Match

Congratulations to Ben Linus! He won the respectfully close consolation match and comes away with 3rd place:

    Ben 54.22% - Desmond 45.78%

And now it's down to this- the Finals. Our perfect bracket leader, Jonathan "spruce-moose" Dowkes, will either claim perfection or come up painfully short at the last minute. After four years of Character Cup action, it all comes down to this- the final Final match. The poll will remain open all weekend, with mega-stats coming on Monday with the results.

It's a battle between two original Losties. Both of these men are what made the show great. Jack Shephard was a doctor with confidence issues. On the Island, he was thrust into a leadership position and, after years of struggle, found his purpose. John Locke was a miserable man who, like Jack, struggled with self-confidence. On the Island he thought he found his purpose and attempted to cling to the Island at all costs. These two men crossed paths numerous times and most of their crossings were tense at best.

They both died in the end and were able to make peace in the afterlife. But today the man of science and the man of faith must take to battle one last time...

Thanks to Christian for the following.

Hey I won Hurleys S2 backpack in the LOST auction. Inside I found some rope and pair of underwear?> Weird?

Thought people might like the pics. Maybe someone online recognizes the rope from a scene or can spot it in the show. Was hoping to find it's origin

Update: 13th Oct Karen has just posted another batch of scans here.

Thanks to Karen for the following.

A couple of weeks ago my friend and fellow Lostie Jooky22, sent me the very first look at pages from Ben's journal. I shared the exclusive pages from Ben's journal here for you to have a peek at. A few days ago Jooky22 mailed me the (many) loose pages of notes that were also part of Ben's bag of goodies to scan and investigate!

    DarkUFO Character Cup: Consolation Match

The Finals are set! Here are the results from yesterday:

    Jack 63.67% - Ben 36.33%

The "Spruce Moose" is still on top and still has a perfect bracket! Congratulations on this amazing feat. We're going to let you enjoy being on top for another day. Today it's our consolation match, which has not bearing on the brackets. Tomorrow, the Final match will be posted and the poll will remain open all weekend. The winner will be announced on Monday, along with a bunch of stats from Character Cup history to wrap up this fun, four-year adventure.

Now then, onto business- today's combatants were both introduced during Season 2. These introductions were electrifying and it's no wonder that these characters blossomed into fan favorites. One of these men brought about the destruction of the DHARMA Initiative. The other found himself holed up amongst its remnant's years later. Both men were fathers (of sorts) and have intense determination. Desmond Hume won the Character Cup after Season 4. Benjamin Linus won last year. Today, these former champions duel for 3rd place.

    LOST: The Last Episodes
    Original Television Soundtrack

    Music Composed by Michael Giacchino

LOST's final season contained just too much great music from Michael Giacchino for a single or even a double CD to suffice. It was clear at the recording session for the series finale that our treatment of this historic television saga demanded an unprecedented final soundtrack release. In total we have chronicled LOST's final season with not one or two or even three CDs full of music, but a full 4 discs, featuring five hours of music! Lost: The Last Episodes now joins our previously released Lost: The Final Season to conclude our presentation of music from LOST's final sixteen episodes.

CD 1 of LOST: The Last Episodes features music from The Candidate, Across The Sea and What They Died For. Disc 2 is devoted solely to the epic and emotional concluding episode, The End. And that brings our LOST soundtrack series to a whopping ten discs! Bravo to Michael Giacchino and congratulations to J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof, Carlton Cuse, Bryan Burk and the entire LOST team! And thank you to all the LOST fans who have been part of this epic journey since Varèse Sarabande's Season 1 album. We are thrilled to offer this very special release to bring LOST's musical story to a moving and poignant end.

LOST Season 6 was released on DVD and BluRay from ABC Home Video on August 24.

    DarkUFO Character Cup: Semifinal #2

Another record has been set! John Locke has made it to his third Character Cup Finals, more than any other character. Here are yesterday's results:

    Locke 59.1% - Desmond 40.9%

Now then, who will face him? There are only two options. One of them will guide our bracket leader even further on his quest for the perfect bracket. The other will crush his hopes at the last minute.

The second semifinal match is another Season 1 vs. Season 2 affair. In one corner there is Jack Shephard, leader of the Losties. In the other corner it's Benjamin Linus, former leader of the Others. One is a gifted surgeon; the other a brilliant scholar. Their relationship has always been a rocky one. They have gone back and forth between being at odds with each other and being on the same side. They finished the series on the same side but today it's a duel to the death.

Who will take on John Locke for the 2010 DarkUFO Character Cup?

Hey all, sorry for leaving you hanging yesterday! Here's Friday's results:

    Jack 82.76% - Charlie 17.24%

Now we begin the semifinals! Our bracket leader has made it this far as the sole perfect bracket remaining. Will he falter today? Tomorrow? At all? Stick around, because the matches are at their most brutal now.

Our first semifinal pits two men against each other with two opposite objectives. Desmond Hume crashed on the Island and became trapped. Three years later, John Locke crashed onto the Island and found freedom. Desmond wanted nothing more than to get off the Island and return to the love of his life. John Locke wanted nothing more than to stay on the Island, having found what he thought was his purpose.

The winner goes to the Finals. Who will it be?

Uniquely Miraculous: The Cultural Triumph of Desmond David Hume in Lost by Pearson Moore

He was the focus of the greatest single hour of LOST.

His countenance was the most expressive of any to have occupied the small screen in six years, for he was alone in being asked to perform deeds beyond the capacities of mortal men.

Yet he failed in every occupation he attempted. He backed out of relationships, after six years with Ruth, after several years with Penny Widmore. He was not religious, and he failed as a monk. He designed sets for the Royal Shakespeare Company, and was let go. He tried the life of a soldier, but couldn't follow orders; after several months in military prison, he was dishonourably discharged from the Royal Scots Regiment. Even pushing a button every 108 minutes was beyond him; his inattention caused the crash of Flight 815.

In spite of constant failure, he was unique. A miracle. Immune to the most severe effects of electromagnetism, he traveled freely in time, in any direction. He was the only person in over two thousand years to descend to the Cave of Light and survive. It was he who rendered the Smoke Monster mortal and frail, susceptible to Kate's bullet and Jack's final push.

But his greatest accomplishments were achieved in that fifth episode of the fourth season, when the greatest secret of LOST was revealed uniquely, miraculously, by the story's most expressive character: Desmond David Hume.

Another day, another heart-breaker. We've lost yet another fan favorite:

    Locke 63.18% - Sawyer 36.82%

Our bracket leader is still clinging to that perfect bracket and it looks like today's match will keep him there. Then again, just because it looks like a no-contest matchup doesn't mean a surprise can't occur.

Today is another matchup between original Losties. Both of then died on the Island in an attempt to help save their friends. One man became the leader while the other was a follower. Both had to conquer personal demons, which made them stronger. Charlie Pace's death allowed several Losties to escape the Island. Jack Shephard's death prevented the Island's destruction. Jack once saved Charlie's life but today one of them has to go down for good. Who will it be?

Jorge Garcia (Hurley), Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond), and Harold Perrineau (Michael), as well as exec producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, are confirmed to appear, and additional cast members are expected to be announced soon.

Looks like you all had a tough time deciding yesterday but the results are in:

    Ben 52.93% - Hurley 47.03%

Our bracket leader came out of this match unscathed and continues his quest for perfection! Today's matchup might be the last of our quarterfinal contests to threaten his chances of going the distance.

Today's matchup is a clash between two original Losties. Neither of them are strangers to ruffling the feathers of their peers. One man came to the Island as a suave and confident swindler. The other came to the Island as an unhappy and uninteresting cripple. During their time on the Island, both men learned that they had a common link in their tortured lives. In the end, John Locke died a pawn in a much larger game but Sawyer refused to be played and escaped the Island with his life. Will the tables be turned when these two meet for the first time in Character Cup action today?

Hey Dark i was at the LOST auction and ended up winning Dogen's costume, well it showed up today and to my surprise came with his personal effect of which included a necklace. Inside this necklace was a scroll and when unraveled showed hieroglyphic writings which you can see a picture of here.

I know LOST pretty well but i don't know the hieroglyphics and i couldn't think of a better person to ask this about. Perhaps you can put this out there to your readers to solve this. Maybe it means something maybe it means nothing either way i thought it was a cool little tidbit to share and id hate to keep any potential new info from the fans, thanks for your time.

Quarterfinal #1 is in the books, sending Desmond Hume to the semifinals for the fourth consecutive year! Desmond will go down in Character Cup history as the only character ever to land in the Top 4 in every single tournament. Congrats Des!

    Desmond 81.62% - Richard 18.38%

We've still got that lone perfect bracket sitting at the top of the pack. Today's matchup could be one of the closest battles of the quarterfinals. Let's find out if the leader will fall today!

In one corner, we have an original Lostie. Some consider him the heart of the show, always there to keep his friends' spirits up. In the other corner is one of Season 2's best characters. He was ruthless and cunning as leader of the Others but gave up his power. His quest to regain power led him to do many shocking things but his quest melted at the kindness of his opponent today. Hurley became steward of the Island and chose Ben as his #2. Today though, there can be only one.

It seems that the poll server was giving some of you problems yesterday. Sorry for the inconvenience. If there are problems today, I'll probably keep the next match live for 48 hours so everyone can get their votes in. Anyway, here's yesterday's results:

    Ben 78.9% - Juliet 21.1%
    Locke 86.42% - Sun 13.58%

Despite not having a full complement of votes, I think these results were a foregone conclusion. And our lone perfect bracket is still alive and well! We'll see how it does in the quarterfinals. We're down to one matchup a day and all of our Elite 8 have some brand new pictures as a reward for making it this far.

Starting off the Quarterfinals is a matchup between two non-Season 1 characters. One man found himself stuck on the Island for three years before finally making his escape. Those three years may have felt like an eternity to him but our other combatant literally spent centuries on the Island, gifted with eternal life from the Island's protector. Who will win between Desmond and Richard?

Okay, we're getting close to the end now! Here's the results from Friday:

    Jack 83.09% - Sayid 16.91%
    Sawyer 88.44% - Miles 11.56%

We've still got one perfect bracket left in the contest and I'm pretty confident they'll make it through the day and into the Quarterfinals unscathed.

Today's first matchup is a battle of wills between two of the Others. Will the one-time leader come out on top or will it be the underling who was something of a thorn in his side? The second battle is between two original Losties, neither of whom survived all the way to the end. Will it be the hunter or the gardener?

    Keep on voting!

No surprises today! Here are the results:

    Hurley 82.17% - Daniel 17.83%
    Richard 76.63% - Jacob 23.37%

Our bracket leader is still on top and still perfect in his picks. How much longer can he last? Probably another day, I would suspect.

Today's matchups pit main characters against each other. Up first are two original Losties that have worked together nearly all series long. They both displayed leadership on the Island and were both part of the Oceanic 6. In then end, both made sacrifices for the greater good.

Our second matchup features an original Lostie and the last remaining member of the freighter crew. The two of them bonded and became good friends during the three years they spent trapped in the 1970s as part of the DHARMA Initiative. Both men also managed to escape the Island and were partners in the afterlife.

Bonds of friendship must be broken! Please cast your votes.

    "Let's elope."

"No. I'll get your father's blessing."

Sun all but rolled her eyes at Jin's quaint ideas. She must have wondered if he had spent his life in the nineteenth century. He would never obtain the great Woo-Jung Paik's permission. "You don't know my father." He didn't pause even for an instant. "I know me," he said, and gave her a beautiful white orchid, symbol of purity and eternity.

She was overwhelmed the day he brought the ring. "I have his blessing." But what she took for traditional charm turned into matrimonial slavery. "Clean the house. Wash yourself. Button your dress!" Mr. Nineteenth Century was not charming anymore. He was an overbearing, domineering chauvinist. She did what any modern woman would do: She plotted an escape, seduced a lover, learned English. Jin would never find her in America.

The day came at the Sydney airport. While he looked forward, she backed away. But then he did something not in her plans. He peered back at her with enchanting eyes, a beautiful white orchid in his hand. She cried, because she knew. She knew Jin.

In an epic tale replete with romance, theirs was the greatest love story of them all, but more than that: The story of Sun and Jin was the central lesson of LOST. We must come to know Jin and Sun, for it is through their story that we understand the Heart of the Island.
