Vozzek69, Robz888, and Pearson Moore take on the toughest unanswered questions
What were Walt's powers? What was the Island's purpose? The most popular Lost essayists on the Internet took on the seven questions DarkUFO readers considered the most important. Agree or disagree, we know you'll find their responses enlightening.
In a poll conducted three weeks ago ("Which of these mysteries would you like to see discussed", posted on 8/07/2010) we asked readers to choose the top unresolved mysteries of Lost. These were the mysteries, as rated by DarkUFO readers:
1. What were Walt's powers, and where did they come from? 10.31%
2. What would have happened had the Smoke Monster left the island? 10.05%
3. What is the Island's purpose? 9.33%
4. Why did the Egyptian hieroglyphics (in Dead is Dead) depict the smoke
monster seemingly hundreds of years before we saw it created? 9.18%
5. What happened when Juliet set off the bomb (or did she?) 7.01%
6. Why did Richard Malkin (the psychic) warn Claire that no one but she could raise Aaron? 6.3%
7. What was the significance of Jacob's Cabin?
We are delighted to provide below short essays by Vozzek69, Robz888, and Pearson Moore on the top outstanding questions of the series.

The UK’s first-ever public TV marathon crash lands in London
Avid followers of smash-hit TV series LOST are invited to test their dedication to the show by enduring the ultimate fan challenge, as they attempt to watch all 121 episodes back-to-back in the UK’s first ever public TV marathon.
The Lost Marathon will be held at Leicester Square’s Prince Charles Cinema from Monday 13th September – Thursday 16th September 2010 to celebrate the release of Lost The Final Season, available on Blu-ray and DVD on Monday 13th September.
From the heart-pounding opening episode to the suspense-filled finale, enthusiasts will face over 80 hours of continuous viewing in a bid to be crowned the last fan standing. Hoards of dedicated followers are expected to descend upon Leicester Square, but only the first 280 people through the doors of the cinema will be eligible for what will be the first event of its kind in the UK.
Fans are encouraged to take part dressed as their favourite characters from the show, armed with their very own survival packs including sleeping bags, pillows and packed lunches! A Lost goody bag packed full of merchandise will be awarded to each participant.
The Lost Marathon will commence at 10am on Monday 13th September 2010 and will continue constantly over 24-hour periods. If successfully completed, the final episode will air on the afternoon of Thursday 16th September 2010.
Gregory Lynn, Director of The Prince Charles Cinema said: “We’re thrilled to host such an exciting event and look forward to keeping our cinema running all day and all night for as long as it takes!”
Paramedics will be on standby and regulated breaks will be permitted as fans attempt to complete the unprecedented mass participation event.
The Prince Charles Cinema is located at 7 Leicester Place, London WC2.
To pre-register attendance fans can email lostmarathon@taylorherring.com
Lost The Final Season and Lost The Complete Season Box Set are both released on Blu-ray and DVD on Monday 13th September 2010.
All participants will receive a bumper Lost good-bag and are free to leave at any time.
Doors open at 9:00am and participants are encouraged to arrive in good time for a 10am start, only the first 280 entrants will be admitted.

Letter from the black rock:
Front:
adequately portray the horrors of this fearful night. A strange mist has enveloped the ship. It is unusual and has put everyone ill at ease...
December 15? - The mist has totally disappeared and it is broad daylight. Despite best efforts to navigate away from the island, we cannot seem to escape its pull, and anxious rumors are spreading. Our compasses are rendered inert for reasons that mystify me.
Incomprehensible altogether is the conduct of Captain Hanso he prattles away the merest nonsense about the island and writes in his journal senseless equations. He was overheard asking Mhifield, "Is it 1881?" I cannot bring myself to the conclusion that the man is mad.
December 16? - The first to abandon his past was Thayer, a man I mentioned before as exhibiting something of a mutinous spirit. After complaining for days of headache and hallucinations, it would appear he has suffered a malady of the brain as blood rushes from his nostrils with no hope if stopping the flow. Before he explained in the doctors arms, he spoke as if a ten year old boy asking his mother for sweets.
Other members of the crew have begun to complain of similar headaches. The island is now off the port... was it not just starboard?
December 18? - An away team of six men was launched at first light in an attempt to get to the island with hopes of determining our location.
Only one returned alive. He seems in a deep shock, muttering about exchanging musket fire with another vessel which promptly disappeared in a flash of heavenly light. He went on to claim that after hours of traversing the island, his five crewmates simply jumped overboard as if lemmings and no degree of coaxing could persuade them back into the boat. They drowned. Every one.
There will be no more away teams.
Back:
December 19? - I awoke paralyzed by fear. Amidst the sounds of the night, there was something else. Though faint it sounded like the whispering of voices seemingly all around me. Then a scream froze in my throat - In the doorway to my cabin stood a shape -
It was Captain Hanso. Pale and fearful as if he'd seen the devil himself. I provided him a whiskey with h opes of putting him back in bed should any crewmember see him in this state, but the poor man seemed beyond calming. His mind was beset by conspiracies involving a man he called "Jacob" who Hanso believed commissioned this very expedition with the intention of bringing us to this maddening place.
Once Hanso was back in his quarters, I immediately reviewed the shipping receipts, but found no mention of any "Jacob"
If anyone is to get us out of this, it will not be that fool.
December 22? - Our lookout claims he has spotted two men on the shore of the island at the foot of the statue that has the crew so concerned. Another hallucination, no doubt. The wind freshened considerably... it appears a storm is imminent.
God save us all.

Thanks to Congested for sending this through.
"Enjoy this “Audibly Lost” featurette, featuring Jay and Jack from The Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack.
The Jay and Jack featurette uses some of the footage shot for “Audibly Lost.” This is the first time you will be seeing extended material shot for the documentary.
The featurette introduces the duo’s relationship with Kris White (of The Official Lost Podcast) along with Jack’s “crackpot theories.”
There is also a bit of footage from their 30-hour charity podcast and from their finale party in Los Angeles.
In addition to Jay, Jack, and Kris, we hear from Michael Emerson, Axel Foley of the Lost Mythos Podcast, Josh and Amanda of The Lost Flashbacks Podcast, Ralph from The Dharmalars, and an avid Jay and Jack fan, Natasha Fray.
Enjoy your first extended look at footage gathered in the making of Audibly Lost!"

Thanks to DarkUFO Reader Mark for sending us the following.
After spending a rigorous amount of time watching and rewatching episodes of Lost, I compiled a complete list of mysteries and answers within the show, with episodes in which the mystery was answered cited in their explanations. At over 70 pages, this document presents, as far as I know, the most complete and organized set of mysteries, answers, and unanswered mysteries within the show on the internet.
It should be noted that answers from the "New Man in Charge" epilogue are used.
Attached is the file of the mysteries and answers of Lost, made as accurate as I could. Only things were presented as mysteries are included.
A few facts:
Season 1 has 80 total mysteries, 6 unanswered mysteries
Season 2 has 106 total mysteries, 17 unanswered mysteries
Season 3 has 101 total mysteries, 16 unanswered mysteries
Season 4 has 135 total mysteries, 28 unanswered mysteries
Season 5 has 148 total mysteries, 38 unanswered mysteries
Season 6 has 93 total mysteries, 22 unanswered mysteries
LOST, in total, had 663 total mysteries, 536 answered mysteries, and 127 unanswered mysteries. However, many of those "unanswered mysteries" may not seem significant to some, though are presented as mysteries nonetheless
You can see the complete list below. Do you agree/Disagree with some of these? Do you have different answers?

Thanks to Lost-Args for the following.
There was something else happening today but I can't quite remember.....:-) Ok, I'm kidding the LOST DVD's and BluRay for the 6th Season and also the complete collections are out today.
To go along with the release there is for a second year the LOST University. The site was updated overnight with the course details and there are lots of new news articles with dates suggesting they should have been released over the last few months, but only appeared today.
When the countdown clock reached zero there was a short, but fairly nondescript, video and the counter reset to 3 Months and 1 Day.
Big thanks to Patmc4Fun who managed to capture this video of the countdown reaching zero -
Let us know what happens when you get in to the Masters program by using your BluRay discs, and definitely let us know when you have passed your courses.

Thanks to Baker1000 for the following.
Amazon.co.uk now have the Lost: Complete Collection Premium Boxset for pre-order. It's pretty much the same set as the US version, it's out October 11th and it's slightly cheaper than the set without the extras on both formats. A couple of things to note though - no blacklight can be seen in the picture. Whether it's included or not is unknown. The packaging is different, so you can't see the Island map there. Again, it's unknown if this is going to be included.

Just thought I'd update you so maybe you could update it on dufo.

Hello,

Thanks to Eric for the following.
Just thought I'd let you know that in the US, from now until August 23, people can pre-order Season 6 or the Complete Collection (DVD or Blu-ray) at Best Buy (in-store only) and get a free "LOST Artifacts" book that shows some pretty cool pictures and info about a lot of things on the show...pretty much a sample of what the LOST Encyclopedia will have. The minimum deposit is $5.00. Best Buy also had their weekly program for DVD's/Blu-ray's, and the Complete Collection is featured.
