I'll admit it... I went into this week of LOST with fairly low expectations. Sun and Jin episodes aren't traditionally known for being action packed, and last week's Ab Aeterno was a pretty tough act to follow. Once more, it's good to be surprised. The Package threw a bunch of HUGE answers at us all at once, in both the ALT and regular storylines. I'll even point them out throughout my recap, to help all the struggling "We didn't get any real answers!" people still out there. Things I Noticed:
The 'V' Countdown Timer Was a 62-Minute Suckfest
Nothing like jamming the next ABC show down my throat while I'm trying to savor the final season of my favorite one. The ads involving that short-haired chick talking about LOST's ending and 'survival of the fittest' was an even bigger turnoff. I'll forgive ABC this week, and this week only. Pulling that shit again next Tuesday would be sacrilegious.

So most of you didn't like it, eh? I actually really enjoyed this episode, and for more reasons than just the last ten seconds.
It's been so long since we've seen Jin and Sun together, and while I was really hoping for a Kwon reunion on the island, their Alternate Timeline (ATL) satisfied some of what I've been missing.
By the way, I have to admit that the Flocke-is-evil people went a long way toward winning me over in this episode. Now that it's clear Flocke has given Claire and Kate conflicting goals, I'm not so sure how much we can trust what he says. Also, Charles Widmore, despite doing plenty of kidnapping, doesn't seem to harbor evil intentions for the island or the survivors at this point, so the fact that he is ready to go to war with Flocke doesn't speak well for Flocke.
But who knows? With Desmond back in play, it's anybody's game.

Please welcome Sean Furfaro who will be doing some brief reviews/recaps of the episode right after they air. You can see his previous articles here: http://sfurfaro.blogspot.com
---------------------
When I saw last week's preview that this was a Sun/Jin episode, I wasn't really looking forward to it. As I've mentioned in some of my previous posts, Sun has become a useless character, and Jin has been irrelevant except as a reason to show gory leg wounds. On top of that, to follow up the absolute magic of "Ab Aeterno" last week (which upon further consideration, may actually be the best episode ever), with a Kwon episode seemed like a letdown.
I was confused by the night vision goggles scene to open the show, but then I realized that we were being told that Widmore's people were watching Flocke's camp. As we switched away from night vision, we saw Flocke talking to Jin, whose leg is healing miraculously well. Flocke came across as helpful, telling Jin about the name "Kwon" on the cave wall, but that he was unclear on whether it meant Jin or Sun.

Hey All,
What a crazy and fun week! This week's Episode 6x09 Ab Aeterno was filled with all sorts of awesomeness!
Of course some of you know after last week's episode I had a moment to chat with Damon Lindelof and in that podcast I mentioned we had scheduled EW's Jeff Jensen again. However, because of some technical recording issues we had to reschedule and if all works out ok, he will join us later this week.
However, we were still able to get a guest to join us and it was fellow LOST blogger Jo from Jopionionated. Jo not only has her own blog, but also announced just today she is now officially writing for AOL TV! So congratulations to her!
Jo joined us for the first time and learned very quickly about some of the crazy thoughts and theories we have on the podcast. We did chat with her about her experiences writing about LOST, visiting the set of Fringe and V and of course we all recapped the wonderful moments in Ab Aeterno, such as Richard's crazy laugh, his love Isabella, the interaction of Richard with both the MiB and Jacob, the reveals of the Black Rock smashing into the 4-Toed Foot and much more!
We also seemed to really get stuck on the possibility that Jacob and MiB are one in the same person and perhaps have a split personality. Think we are crazy?? Well listen to the podcast to find out HOW crazy!
This podcast was posted to iTunes earlier, but below is a link to an audio player and download link for you all to enjoy!

After a mini-hiatus, Anna is back with a recap for last week's episode 6x09 Ab Aeterno.
Enjoy!!
I do sincerely apologize to you all for my recent 3-episode hiatus. I suppose one could say that I’ve been saving my thoughts on the last few episodes and letting them age like…a fine wine. Yet even with so many current distractions (read: very important life-stuff) nothing gets me “stay-up-all-night-whacky-LOST-eyed-writing” again more than a major mythology episode.
INTRO: Rock It
So, did LOST not ROCK IT with episode nine or what?!
Nestor Carbonell finally got to show off his mad acting skillz is this long-overdue tale of Richard Alpert’s epic back-story, “Ab Aeterno” (which for those of you who don’t know already can be translated to “For Eternity”). And it really did have something for everyone. A dashing hero on horseback straight out of a period romance-novel. A damsel in distress. Bloody outbursts of violence. The battle between good and evil. Faustian bargains. Richard's hysterical laughter. Built-in suspenders! Corks!!
When compared to the rest of the series, it was as emotional as “The Constant”, as mythical as “Cabin Fever”, as shocking as “The Man Behind the Curtain”…and I could go on and on through all of the major game-changing episodes we have seen. Just through following the fan rumblings on Twitter I found that there are only a few who have NOT added this to their “top-episodes of all time” lists. I believe this is true especially because of the fact we had previously been given NOTHING about this character’s tale but little spurts and hints since his first appearance. This in turn made the fan buildup to this particular installment nothing short of phenomenal, dare I say even rabid. And I must concur; it met and surpassed my expectations as it seems to have done for most of the fan-base.
There’s some heady stuff going on in this one so let’s just get right to the recap!

Ab Aeterno,
Lost Fantasy League,
Season 6
UPDATE: The weekly character scores and episode totals charts have been added to the post. I wasn't able to insert them earlier when Google was having problems.
UPADTE: Google seems to be having issues with their image hosting right now. Charts and tables will be up when Google fixes the problem.
Our second Double-Points Episode is in the books and, for the second week in a row, the leader boards have been completely tossed about! With Richard's record-setting 920 points, our league leaders now look drastically different. Also, for what I believe is the first time ever, one of our celebrity contestants is leading the League! Way to go Pete!
NOTE: There were a number of point adjustments made heading into this post. This means that your weekly scores may look incorrect. Please check the Important Point Rulings section to see if these adjustments affect your team before emailing me about an incorrect score.
"Ab Aeterno" would have been a points giant without the double-points factor. With the DPF, it is now the highest-scoring episode this season and possibly of all time! Makes you wonder what will happen in our third and final DPE this year (6.13). Ah well, check out the Fantasy Update above (I've written off a few more people) and the lovely stats and data below.
Lost Fantasy Team Lookup Table | LFL on Facebook | G-Man on Twitter | Email G-Man
POINTS ADJUSTMENTS FOR 6.04 "THE SUBSTITUTE":
1) Sawyer was retroactively given points for encountering a New Thing. In 6.09, we give Richard points for the white stone Jacob gives him. Therefore, Sawyer deserves points for the black and white stones.
POINTS ADJUSTMENTS FOR 6.06 "SUNDOWN"
1) Both the Smoke Monster and the Man In Black have had points retroactively removed. In "Sundown," we gave them points for encountering a new thing with the sword that Sayid attacked him with. We now know that MIB had seen this sword before, so those points have been stripped from each of them.
POINTS ADJUSTMENTS FOR 6.08 "RECON":
1) Sawyer and Jin each get DHARMA Logo points. Thanks to a sharp-eyed contestant, I was given a screencap that shows both men on screen with the generic DHARMA logo inside Claire's hut.
2) Charles Widmore gets credit for visiting a DHARMA location. Even though we didn't see him outside of the submarine, he gets credit for visiting Hydra Island.
If you have any questions about why something was or wasn't scored, leave a comment or use the email above!
IMPORTANT POINT RULINGS FOR 6.09 "AB AETERNO":
1) Ilana is credited with Centricity for the episode as well as Richard. Our rules state that a League Character needs to have a minimum of two Flash segments in order to qualify for centricity. Even though Ilana's second flashback lacked the WHOOSH! effect, it was a separate flashback.
2) Richard gets a Major Injury deduction for the shipwreck. It appears that he was knocked unconscious by it, which fits our definition for a major injury.
3) Smokey is charged with killing 5 people. As stated in our Important Points Rulings for 6.06 "Sundown," the rules do not require us to see all of the deaths occur in order to charge deductions. Whitfield stated that there were five officers left. We took this to mean five including himself. It is clear that Smokey killed everyone off before scanning Richard. Since we were given a number of surviving officers, we know how many people Smokey killed.
4) The Black Rock is not new for MIB/Smokey. The producers implied in their recent podcast that the Black Rock was the ship from the beginning of "The Incident."
5) Isabella appearing on the Black Rock was MIB/Smokey in disguise. We're taking Jacob at his word that Isabella was not Isabella and really the Smoke Monster. This gives Smokey/MIB an additional visit to the Black Rock and Richard an additional encounter with Smokey.
6) Jacob's pummeling of Richard is a major injury. The beating and the drowning together added up to a lot of physical trauma for Richard. While there was no actual blood shown, we've decided that any form of attempted drowning will count as a major injury.
7) The wine bottle counts for New Thing points. It's a pretty ordinary wine glass but because it was used to illustrate the purpose of Jacob and the Island, it gained importance.
8) MIB/Smokey has a flashback. The last scene where Jacob comes to visit MIB was actually a flashback for MIB/Smokey. Richard was not in it, so it cannot be attributed to him. Since it jumped from MIB-Locke to the FB, we're crediting MIB/Smokey with the FB.

Hey All,
I know a few of you did not think this past week's episode of LOST was as good as others thought, but you were in a big minority as most fans felt that it was amazing and one of the better episodes we have seen.
The fan polls ranked this episode very high and just slightly below the The Constant making it the second highest ranked episode.
The blogger/media sites agreed with the majority as several of them gave A++++!
As always the additional "+" symbols are to show how they really felt but only count for one "+".
What more can I say, I loved seeing Richard's flashback, Nestor Carbonell's acting was awesome and and any Jacob and MiB interaction is always a plus. Of course the writers gave us several answers including killing two birds with one Black Rock, explaining how the ship got to the center of the island and what destroyed the 4-toed statue.
Quote of the Week via Anna (FourToedFoot.com): Can I do A to the 15th power? It was as emotional as the Constant, as mythical as Cabin Fever, as shocking as The Man Behind the Curtain…I could go on through all of the BIG episodes we have of the series. There are not many who seem to have NOT added this to their “top-episodes of all times” lists. Especially when we have been given NOTHING about this character but little spurts and hints…the fan buildup was phenomenal and I have to agree it met and surpassed my expectations.
Honorable Mention - Best Use of the Letter "A": 'A' is for Admirable Amazing Astonishing Awesome Ab Aeterno Alpert.

Recaps
Here is the Episode 6.09 recap from Erika Olson (aka "e") from LongLiveLocke.com.We've officially reached the halfway point of Season Six. Nine hours down, nine hours left to go before it all ends on May 23. I've gotta say that if the remaining episodes are even remotely as incredible as Ab Aeterno was, we are going to be very happy Lost fans indeed.
So go ahead and add me to the list of people who loved this Ageless Richard-centric hour (its title, by the way, is Latin for "since the beginning" or "for long ages"). I made what might've been the most obvious comment ever to my husband after it was over: "This was so much more powerful than it would've been had we gotten his backstory earlier." We needed years of seeing Richard as Jeff Probst's doppelganger -- clean-shaven, stylish, confident and spewing out impeccable English -- in order to truly appreciate how far he's come in, oh, a hundred and forty years. And to understand how utterly desperate he must feel to finally want to give up on the job he was given by Jacob all of those decades ago.

Thanks to Otherdruid for the heads up.
ABC/Disney appears to be organizing a live in-cinema event aimed at hard-core “Lost” fans.
Michigan’s Celebration Cinemas chain has this on its website:
Description: Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, the creators of LOST, will have an in-depth live discussion about the show's creation, its six years on the air, and its finale on May 23, 2010. The TimesTalks Participants include Award winning Carlton Cuse, who currently executive produces LOST, along with Damon Lindelof, the co-creator and executive producer for the LOST series. The discussion will be interspersed with video clips from past shows as well as a one-minute sneak peak from the finale. The discussion will be followed by a 30-40 minute Q&A with questions taken from the live crowd at the NYT Center, pre-submitted fan questions and questions texted from guests on event night. Guests will be offered the opportunity to text in a question.
Looks like this is happening May 20, three days before the finale airs. I assume it won’t be limited to Michigan cinemas.

Hey All,
Earlier today I had a chance to chat with LOST co-writer/producer Damon Lindelof. They just finished writing the script for the finale over the weekend and he was kind enough to chat with me during his busy morning schedule for a few moments. I had a great time doing the interview with him and he was candid and honest in answering ALMOST everything I asked him.
We talked about the journey of getting to the finale and if it is the story they wanted to tell, what they would maybe like to change or do different, if we will see Eko again, the fan reactions to Season 5 (time travel) and Season 6 (Flash-Sideways), what made Ab Aeterno so good, and then I asked him a few of the fan questions that were sent in. He also has a special message to spoiler fans about the finale at the end of the podcast.
I want to thank each and everyone of you for submitting so many great questions. I wish I had more time with Damon to ask them all, but my time with him was very limited and he could not reveal anything spoilery.
NOTE: At about the 19 Minute mark when talking about what the plans are for LOST after the finale he does mention the finale title (which was revealed yesterday). So for those of you that consider this a spoiler beware. HOWEVER, I can almost guarantee the title spoils nothing, but for those that are sensitive to such things I wanted to give you a little warning.
I hope you all enjoy listening and once again thanks to all that help set it up and of course Damon.

UPDATE: Thanks for ALL the great questions, I just completed my chat with Damon and it went really well.
Unfortunately he was short on time and could not answer too many questions, but what he did answer he answered well. I will get the audio up soon!
Hey All,
We are half way through Season 6 and you most likely watched the Richard-Centric Ab Aeterno and were blown away by not only Nestor Carbonell's acting, but also the reveals about the Black Rock, Jacob, MiB and more!
However, you still have questions and feel LOST. So is there one question you always wanted to ask one of the LOST writers? Something about last night's episode? Season 6 or the show in general??
Well tomorrow Damon Lindelof will join me for a Q&A session for The ODI Podcast!
He of course will not answer anything too spoilery if at all.
Please keep in mind Damon is busy, that I have limited time with him and I am sure several questions will be submitted. So to be fair please limit yourselves to one question only. I will NOT be able to ask every question but will do my best to ask as many good questions as possible.
The more simple and popular a question is, the more likely I will ask him and that you will get an answer. So submit away.
Thanks in advance and I can't wait to do this!

Illana Cleans Up Pretty Damned Good
There's one small problem with Jacob healing Illana in that hospital, and it involves him not touching her. From what we've seen so far, Jacob's touch has been required to manipulate or bring about change, and by the end of this episode we even watched him physically bestow his gift upon Richard. In the Illana scene however, we've known since The Incident that Jacob wore gloves. This seemed an obvious precaution against him touching her, even by accident.
So how did Illana get healed? We don't see it, but I don't think the healing is the important part. Maybe Jacob left Illana untouched because he needed her unmanipulated. Maybe he needed her pure and unbiased so that - in his own words - she could decide for herself what was right and wrong. Perhaps the very act of marking his playing pieces has invalidated their decision-making process, voiding them out as examples for Jacob's argument that people can change? If so, it would make the characters he hasn't touched yet a lot more important in the future.

Ah, at long last, Richard Alpert's back story via flashback! Based on the polls, I agree with the overwhelming majority of fans who voted this one of the greatest episodes of Lost ever.
While the scenes between Richard, Jacob and the Man in Black stand out as particularly excellent, I was also thoroughly enchanted by the earlier parts of Richard's flashback. It's been too long since we've had a flashback depicting how a certain character came to the island. That used to be half the fun of Lost, and I'm very glad - relieved, even - that we were able to take this journey with Richard before the end.

Hey All,
With most of you on the east coast or across the world now getting ready for tonight's episode 6x09, I am sure that the recap of last week's episode is not on the top of your list of things to listen to.
However, this week as always Karen, Danny and myself analyze the off and on island fun. We chat about some of things we did not like and how some stuff did not seem to fit, but there were several important scenes we chatted about including Sawyer smashing the mirror, Little House on the Prairie, Sawyer setting up a con of Widmore and MiB and of course MiB talking to Kate about having a crazy mom and much more!
Plus I make an announcement of who our special guests will be this week!
If you are on the west coast or will not be watching the live feed, check out the recap podcast below!
