Wow. As soon as things get interesting with a few close matches we go right back to the blowouts!

    Hurley 86% - Christian 14%
    Desmond 96% - Radzinsky 4%

Hurley was predicted to win in 93% of the brackets, with Christian managing just 5.8%. Desmond was predicted to be victorious in 98% of all brackets; Radzinsky only 1.2%. So no surprises this time. We've still got seven bracketeers holding onto perfection and plenty of others hoping for them to slip up soon.

Today marks the end of Round 2. We're closing it out with some interesting matchups. Might there still be a statistical upset in the cards? We'll know by tomorrow morning.

Up first is another potential bracket buster between two men of interesting professions. One is a Nigerian warlord-turned-priest and the other is a ghost whisperer from Encino. One is very much dead while the other's fate was left up in the air at the end of Season 5. Who will it be- Eko or Miles?

Our other matchup pits an Other against an original Lostie. The Other has been seen a good bit lately, while the Lostie has been MIA since Season 4. Will you support the man who supposedly wears eyeliner or will you toss some love the baby mama's way? Richard vs. Claire closes us out!

    Match #15: Eko vs. Miles

Hey! Finally we had some matches that were a little on the closer side of the spectrum. Jacob and Charlie started out pretty close but Charlie managed to pull away and stay ahead. Vincent put up a valiant effort but didn't have it in him to keep up with Kate. Here's how it all worked out:

    Charlie 59% - Jacob 41%
    Kate 63% - Vincent 37%

Charlie was predicted to win Round 2 in 51.2% of all brackets, making him a slight overachiever in the polls. Jacob was predicted to win in 40.6% of the brackets, so his numbers were just about dead on. Kate was predicted to win in 65.3% of all brackets and Vincent only 10.9%.

There are now just 7 perfect brackets left in the competition! Is it possible that one of these seven will go all the way? Or will they all get one wrong and leave the DVD prize race wide open? Only time will tell.

Today we've got some interesting matches. Up first is a dead guy and someone who can see him. Both seem to have a connection to Jacob. One claims to speak for him while the other is capable of seeing him and has met him personally. Will it be the Dad or the Dude?

The second fight is a hatch match! Two former residents of the Swan station are going toe to toe. Will you support the man who designed it or the man who destroyed it? Is it going to be the angry American or the sexy Scotsman?

Match # 13: Christian vs. Hurley

    Match #14: Radznisky vs. Desmond

Once again, things weren't much of a surprise. Sayid and Daniel put Penny and Libby to rest quite easily. Here's the final results:

    Sayid 78% - Penny 22%
    Daniel 91% - Libby 9%

Sayid was predicted to win in 82.2% of all brackets compared to Penny's 10.8%. Daniel was predicted to dominate Libby in the brackets 97.1% to 2.4%. While not too exciting, these matchups did manage to eliminate a perfect bracket or two though, leaving us with just 10 bracketeers clinging to a spotless record

So, a whole week without an exciting matchup? This is simply unacceptable! Let's change that right now.

Today's first match sees two very interesting characters going head-to-head. One has been mentioned for several years now and finally appeared, only to seemingly die in the Season 5 finale. The other has been mentioned and seen a few times recently but died way back in Season 3. Both characters have their fans and are pretty popular. Who will win when Jacob and Charlie go at it?

Our second fight on the card today is a man vs. beast affair. A lovable mutt is taking on one of the show's main characters. Vincent brings new meaning to the term 'underdog' but can he pull out an upset and send Kate home early?

So much for a potential close one! It seems that the allure of Walt has been lost on most fans, as Frank beat him by a near 3-1 margin. Ben, as expected, destroyed Rose and also moves on to the third round of competition. Here's the results:

    Ben 93% - Rose 7%
    Frank 71% - Walt 29%

Ben was predicted to win in 98.5% of all brackets compared to Rose's paltry 0.9% prediction rate. Frank was predicted to win in just 48.4% of all brackets. This does not make him our first statistical upset though, as Walt was only predicted to win in 30.6% of all brackets. The difference lies in those who thought Rousseau would beat Frank and then go on to beat Walt.

We did manage to knock another bracketeer off of their pursuit of perfection though! There are now just 12 perfect brackets left and it looks like some of the battles coming next week might reduce the number of perfect brackets even further.

But now for today's matchups. Up first is a kind and gentle woman going up against a trained killer. Both have known love and sometimes where their emotions on the sleeves. But in the end, will you support the mother or the murderer?

Our second bout features two very well-liked but very dead characters. One is a physicist while the other claimed to be a psychologist. Will you favor the Freighter Four member or the Tailie?

Boy oh boy! Three days in a row and still no competitive matches! Mikhail and Anthony Cooper barely even put up a fight against their opponents. Here's how yesterday's matches ended up:

    Sawyer 90% - Mikhail 10%
    Smokey 85% - Cooper 15%

Sawyer was predicted to win in 98.9% of all brackets compared to Mikhail's paltry 0.5%. Smokey was predicted to win in only 62.1% of all brackets but that's still leaps and bounds ahead of Cooper's 1.1%. So we still have yet to see a statistical upset. Might today finally be the day?

The first battle of the day probably won't bring any surprises but you never can tell in the Character Cup. We've got an original Lostie going up against an Other. Will Rose's sass and spirit be enough to overpower Ben?

The second matchup could finally be our wild card draw. An original Lostie who hasn't appeared regularly since Season 1 going up against a member of the Freighter Four, who has shown up pretty regularly since his debut in Season 4. Will you vote for the boy with mysterious powers or the man who was supposed to pilot Flight 815?

Another day, another set of easy matches. Has the drama gone away? Nah. We'll get to the good, hard fights soon enough. Here's how yesterday turned out:

    Sun 87% - Carmen 13%
    Jack 81% - Boone 19%

Sun was selected to win in 93.5% of all brackets and Jack was predicted to win in 97.1% of all brackets. So, all those hard core Carmen and Boone fans surely had some realists amongst their bracketeering members ;-)

So what's in store for today? Will we finally see an upset? You never can tell.

Up first today is a heavyweight contender and a supporting character with a decent following. Both enjoy a little throw-down now and then, so this could get ugly. Will the Patch Batch and the anti-Sawyer establishment band together to cause an upset or will the Southerner knock out the Soviet?

Our second bout is between two supporting characters, both of whom could be classified as monsters. Both have only appeared in a few episodes and have impacted different people in different ways. Will it be the cloud or the con man? The smoke or the slime ball?

Okay, so yesterday's matchups weren't all that terribly exciting. These things have a way of happening sometimes. :-p

    Locke 96% - Bram 4%
    Juliet 86% - Eloise 14%

Locke was predicted to win in 99% of all bracketeers. Bram did get some love though, being predicted to win in 0.7% of the brackets. Juliet was predicted to win in 91.8% of all brackets, leaving Eloise in the cold with just 7.4% confidence in her. What will the percentages look like today?

Our second day of Round 2 action could end up being a repeat but there is room for a little excitement along the way.

Our first matchup sees two mothers going at it. One has been to the Island while the other has merely heard of it. Who will win this international battle between Sun and Carmen?

The second fight on the card today could be an upset special if hater nation pulls out all the stops. Two season 1 vets enter the ring as the doctor takes on the lifeguard. Will the haters prevail and end Jack's run early or will Boone get sent back to the graveyard?

A delayed congratulations go out to our final Round 1 winners. Here's how Friday's polls ended up:

    Vincent 62% - Shannon 38%
    Radzinsky 61% - Cassidy 39%
    Eko 80% - Bernard 20%
    Penny 61% - Pierre 39%

As you can see these matches were a little closer than some of the other Round 1 melees. Perhaps it is a sign of things to come? We're about to find out!

After 92,902 votes cast during Round 1, we enter the Round of 32. The field has been cut in half but that's not good enough; we're looking for just one character to win it all. Starting this round we're scaling it back to two matches a day.

Our first bout in Round 2 pits an original Lostie against one of the new kids on the block. It's the dead versus the living as the real John Locke takes on the mysterious Bram.

The second matchup sees two of Lost's most intriguing female characters going at it. One is uncertain how future events will unfold while it is uncertain if her opponent even has a future on the show! Mysteries abound as Eloise Hawking steps into the ring with Juliet.

    Hundreds Witness Unexplained Phenomenon
At approximately 11:59 p.m. last night, Campus Security received hundreds of calls from students, faculty, and other members of the community reporting an unexplained bright light coupled with and an ear-piercing noise. What a day, Lost fans! While none of the matchups were particularly close, there was plenty of moving and shaking going on with the brackets. Here's how things turned out:

    Smokey 64% - Widmore 36%
    Jack 82% - Tom 18%
    Sawyer 92% - Keamy 8%
    Claire 89% - Nadia 11%

So it looks like Hater Nation is still around. The anti-Jack establishment seems to be mobilizing very early. The anti-Sawyer troops must have taken the day off though. Did Widmore's loss to Smokey surprise you? Can the black cloud of awesomeness pull off a Round 2 win? We'll see.

We still haven't seen any statistical upsets yet as far as those brackets go but we're down to just 26 perfect bracketeers! We've got one day left in Round 1 to stir things up!

Today looks like it could be a deal breaker for a number of you. At least two of the matches are expected to be close but we'll see in 24 hours just how close they really were. Up first is man's desire versus man's best friend. The second match is between two supporting characters from two different time periods. Third is a battle between two Tailies. Batting cleanup is slugfest between a father and a mother.

Let's close out Round 1 with a bang!

Hey hey, what do you say! For the first time since the Character Cup began last week, the number of perfect brackets remains the same! Yesterday's matches were all runaway victories. Here's the results:

    Rose 91% - Paulo 9%
    Libby 86% - Nikki 14%
    Walt 81% - David 19%
    Jacob 92% - Ilana 8%

There's just 8 more matchups in Round 1. How many perfect brackets will survive? All this talk of brackets isn't really as important as it sounds though. It's just an extra bit of fun. In fact, the whole Character Cup is about having fun. So let's have some more fun and weed out some more classic Lost characters!

Our first matchup features a powerful man going up against a powerful Island being. The second battle pits a Lostie against an Other. Match number three is a Lostie vs. Freighter slugfest. Our final bout of the day is between two lovely ladies.

    Who's going to win today?
