Its so weird whitout dramtic music in the background.
Huh.
How was that footage damaged? I get that it had to be reshot 'cause it wasn't the right lighting, but I noticed no visible damage. It just looked like a rough unfinished cut of a scene.
In the last few lines, Daniel seemed very out of character. His voice sounded somewhat altered, as well.
The following is extracted from the final script:
DAN: [Returning] Ok, so the boat hasn't heard from anybody else yet, but er... their GPS transponders - my team and I are all wearing these; the transponders will send the locations back to the ship, and then the ship will send all locations back into the phones. Er... oh, there we are - there's my signal right there, and hopefully we'll get the signals for the rest of the team soon. Will you help me find 'em?
JACK: Absolutely.
DAN: Okay, thank you. Hey, where are the rest of your people?
Now compare that to the last few lines in the damaged footage:
DAN: [Returning] Ha, ah... everything... is okay... everything is under control. Hmm, the GPS transponder right here - my team and I are all wearing these; they're sending each of our locations back to the ship, which will then send all the locations to our phones. That's me, and we should meet the rest of the team soon. [Collecting his breath] Will you help me find them?
JACK: Absolutely.
DAN: Eh, yeah... okay.
The last line gives an entirely wrong impression of Daniel's character, which is an incosistent portrayal even within this damaged scene. The long explanation leading to the last exchange is fine on paper, but Jeremy Davies' voice was rather off when he delivered those lines.
On the other hand, I would have liked it if the "May I borrow your phone, please?" had made the final cut.
Daniel was very out of character during the scene, and he didn't get his speech patterns down pat. If it wasn't for the film damage during the daniel shots (it's faded white, as you can tell), this cut would've likely been reshot anyways.
Pretty sketchy. Glad we got the version we have.
They should be honest and say, "Must be reshot due to crappy acting."
Cool stuff... Yep, the video has some weird white fadings, but, imo, the acting is fine and didn't notice anything weird with Dan... he's as nervous as always.
Peep's, some of Daniel's script is dubbed over by another voice.
yeah i got that too. its pretty obvious that someone was dubbing over the visual footage because it was due to be finished by the actual actor. its common practice.
same voice that did mokowski on the phone did the dubbing.
not a great scene really. the new version is better
its hiatus time so im happy with anything we can get :)))
thanks for posting
The other voice is an insert by the sound department because the sound quality is poor or the dialog has changed. Jeremy Davies will have to go into a studio and rerecord the dialog (ADR).
yes, I heard about this scene, I heard, that in one scene Matt, Evi and I don´t know his name now (just Daniel:)) climbed somewhere.
yeah, when people are saying he's "out of character" its a different person dubbing over the footage, Jeremy(Daniel), would record those lines in a studio later on, they do it ALOT i found out about it watching the Men In Black DVD extras, lol.
