Congratulations to both Richard Alpert and Michael Dawson. Both picked up easy victories and are moving on to Round 2. Neither Karl nor Mr. Paik really stood much of a chance, but that's the way it goes with my non-virtual hat.
Speaking of the hat, it was rather cruel to provide us with yet another mathcup between two minor characters this evening. But, it's also giving us our second of three showdowns between main characters. Grumble all you want as to whether she deserves to be called a main character, but Lostpedia lists Nikki as one, and I'm sticking to it.
There are only two matchups beyond tonight remaining. With 5 recurring main characters left in the mix, and only 4 more possible winners, it means there will be a battle royale between to well-liked characters. Who will they be? We'll get to them soon enough. For now, let's vote on tonight's contestants.
Status: Flashback Character (Alive)
Charles Widmore is the owner of the Widmore Corporation, a conglomerate serving many different industries. He is also the father of Penelope Widmore. Charles offered a job to Desmond but scoffed when he asked for permission to marry her. He intercepted every letter Desmond wrote to Penny from prison and bribed him to disappear from her life completely.

Tom was a member of the Others. He was first seen when the Others attacked the raft and abducted Walt. He also appeared in the jungle with a warning for the Losties, drawing a boundary line for both groups. He was among Ben's staff on Hydra Island and was sent to the Lostie camp to abduct several women. There he met his fate when he was shot and killed by Sawyer.
Status: Lostie (Deceased)
Nikki was an actress and petty thief. She had a guest role on the popular TV show Exposé and used the part to get close to the show's rich producer and steal his diamonds. Nikki and her boyfriend/accomplice Paulo then boarded Oceanic Flight 815. Nikki assumed the diamonds were lost, but she discovered Paulo had secretly recovered them. Her revenge plan got them both killed, as they were buried alive.
